DESPITE Nationally being one of the most tightly contested General Elections in a generation there was no change for the North Shropshire constituency which reaffirmed itself as ‘true blue’.

And, as talks between the three parties leaders go on to decide on the future governance of the country, North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson has assured his constituents that whatever the outcome - they will be his priority.

“I would like to assure my constituents that whatever may happen nationally, whether I have a place in the next government or not I will continue to fight for North Shropshire and will push on with the campaign to dual the A5, better internet connections, improved education and health services.

“I want to thank everyone involved with the election process, my agent, Kirsty Walmsley and particularly my wife, Rose, for her continued hard work,” he added.

Mr Paterson  said: “I have been travelling to Northern Ireland as Shadow Secretary every week for the past two years, a role I would love to have in a Conservative government, but that is up to Mr Cameron.

“Whatever happens, my constituents, whether they voted for me or not, will always be my priority,” he added.

Speaking this morning (Monday) Mr Paterson could not enlighten Advertizer readers as to who was going to govern the country.

He was due to attend a shadow cabinet meeting in London in the afternoon followed by a Parliamentary  meeting at 6pm.

He said he too had been keeping an eye on the weekend’s news to see if any deal between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats had been struck.
