CAN United get the better of City in the Manchester derby? Will it be a home league win for Klopp and Liverpool?

And will the Toffees claim a point at Arsenal?

Our sports desk run their eye over the weekend's Premier League action.

ASTON VILLA v SWANSEA CITY

NICK HARRISON: Swansea looked awful on Monday night while Villa get stagefright infront of their home fans. Sherwood needs a win but I think it will be honours even. 1-1

TOM NORRIS: If you believe everything you read then both managers need a victory here. Will that stifle the game?  An interesting subplot is Jordan versus Andre Ayew. The latter should come out on top, and so will his team. 1-2

CHARLIE CROASDALE:  Villa need to stop going gung-ho in an attempt to get a much-needed win. I fancy Rudy Gestede to get the better of an out-of-sorts Ashley Williams in a home win. 2-0

LEICESTER CITY v CRYSTAL PALACE

NH: Leicester never give up while Palace always respond well after a poor result. They’ll be goals, especially if Ranieri decides to start with play-maker Mahrez. 2-2

TN: WIll Leicester kick-off at the same time as the other team this week? If they do then they stand a much better chance of winning the game. Get Mahrez working in tandem with Vardy and a high scoring home win is more than possible. 3-2

CC:  Can Vardy score for a seventh game running? Quite possibly but it will be Pardew’s men who come away with the points. 1-3

NORWICH CITY v WEST BROM

NH: Got 0-0 written all over it. Norwich will be tighter after leaking six at Newcastle while West Brom are hardly thrill-a-minute stuff under Pulis. 0-0

TN: It certainly won’t be 6-2. Brave I know. Pulis loves a scrappy away day. Can Norwich avoid being sucked into playing like the Baggies, I fear not. A set-piece will settle this one. 0-1

CC:  Norwich were a shambles defensively against Newcastle and it’s hard to see them shipping six again but the Baggies may prove too strong. 0-1

STOKE CITY v WATFORD

NH:  Real chance for Stoke to put on their best performance of the season. They looked solid at Stoke with Arnautovic a real threat. With everyone looking at Shaqiri, the Austrian could take centre stage. 2-0

TN: Watford are just starting to find life in the top flight a little tougher than they had, while Stoke have momentum and plenty of quality to unlock the visiting defence. 3-0

CC:  The Hornets can claim a vital away point in the Potteries, after producing a good performance against Arsenal in defeat last week. Bojan and Deeney to net. 1-1

WEST HAM UNITED v CHELSEA

NH: It would be great to see The Hammers do just that to Chelsea. Instead of reading all about Mourinho moaning about whatever next he’s going to moan about, we’ll be reading about who the next manager of Chelsea is going to be. 2-1

TN: Hazard might be back in Mourinho’s good books, but Payet will be the one to watch in this London derby guaranteed to have plenty of twists and turns. 3-2

CC:   By all accounts, Chelsea produced a gritty, defensively sound performance in Kiev in midweek, and they can secure another shut out against Bilic’s side. 0-1

ARSENAL v EVERTON

NH: The Gunners are getting better with every game. But just like Palace, Everton are always good after bad and they will test Arsenal who should ditch Walcott and play Giroud from the start. 3-1

TN: Ramsey’s injury might not be the worst thing to happen to Arsenal, who will bring Giroud in and switch Walcott out wide to terrorise Galloway. Everton will pray they don’t perform like last week. 2-1

CC: Could be goals in this one, with Arsenal full of confidence after the midweek victory over Bayern. Ozil, Sanchez and Cazorla are hitting top form, but Ramsey’s injury is a blow. 2-0

NEWCASTLE v SUNDERLAND

NH: Newcastle’s record in this derby tie is horrendous. And expect that run to continue with Big Sam’s boys taking all three points again. 2-1

TN: Sunderland just don’t lose this game, do they? Big Sam will get stick from both sets of fans if he can’t get at least a point from this one. Usually entertaining in some way. 0-1

CC: History suggests this tends to be a cagey affair. Would both under-pressure managers settle for a point? I think they might, with Mitrovic and Fletcher on the scoresheet. 1-1

BOURNEMOUTH v TOTTENHAM

NH: Spurs could struggle from a little bit of Europa League-afters. Bournemouth need points and if they can keep Eriksen quiet, it could be rich pickings for The Cherries. 2-1

TN: Spurs will be glad they were only in Anderlecht last night. At present Pochettino’s men are lacking some guile if Eriksen and Kane are quiet. The visitors will have enough to win this one however. 0-2

CC: The injury-ravaged Cherries squad are starting to find life tough in the top tier. I like Glenn Murray, but he doesn’t pack the same threat as Callum Wilson. Away win here. 1-3

MANCHESTER UNITED v MANCHESTER CITY

NH: A United win would leave the title race wide open and cast more doubts over Pellegrini’s future at City, who were poor again in the Champions League. This derby will be one full of fright and not flair. 1-1

TN: Van Gaal has already started to make excuses, but City are the side missing arguably their best player. Bony is no replacement for Aguero and De Bruyne could be asked to play in attack and spearhead an away win. 1-2

CC: Kompany’s fitness is vital for City, who are already missing Silva and Aguero. The onus is on the likes of De Bruyne, Sterling and Toure to step up to the mark for this key clash. 1-1

LIVERPOOL v SOUTHAMPTON

NH: The Saints are good away and should cause problems for a Liverpool back-line that always look ropey. Klopp won’t want to kick off his Kop career with a home defeat but much depends on whether Sturridge starts. 2-2

TN: Klopp won’t want to lose this one, not against Liverpool’s feeder club. Koeman will be of the same opinion and that could make for a disappointing 90 minutes. 1-1

CC: Klopp will be eager to please the Anfield crowd who appear to think he’s the new messiah. A home win is most likely but the Saints will make life difficult. 2-1
