FRUSTRATED councillors in Weston Rhyn have questioned why road safety improvements have been set back. A series of suggestions aimed at making crucial changes along Station Road and by the primary school were put forward by the parish council earlier this year after a member of the public voiced fears of a potentially “tragic accident”. The ‘wish list’ was submitted with the understanding that they would be decided upon and benefit from funding in 2015/16. However, a recent letter from Shropshire Council’s senior engineer David Gradwell, revealed that they missed that deadline and will now be decided as part of the 2016/17 budget. Councillor Pat McGuinness, who compiled the list, said: “We were advised it has to be in by February and that is what we did. I was not under the impression it would be deferred for a year." Cllr David Lloyd, who represents the parish at Shropshire Council, said he felt the bid was in on time and should not have been put back.
