BOOKMAKERS believe the vacant manager’s job at Wrexham is down to a ‘two-horse race’ between favourite Craig Harrison and Barry Horne.

BetVictor, the only major bookmaker offering odds on the Racecourse hotseat, reacted to a wave of cash for the Reds’ director of football Horne by slashing his odds to 6/4.

Yesterday, the money came for current TNS boss Harrison, an odds-on shot at 4/6, who is away in Geneva as part of his Uefa Pro Licence.

Harrison was yesterday pictured in Geneva with the likes of Tim Sherwood and Patrick Vieria who are also undertaking the course.

“Since we went 6/4 joint favourite on Harrison and Horne on Monday night, we’re now into 4/6 for Harrison and 3/1 Horne,” a BetVictor spokesman said. “It’s a two-horse race now.

“We can’t quite understand the money for Horne, not even managing yet, but we were asked to price him up and we have since taken bets at 6/4.”

The bookmakers make Macclesfield Town boss John Askey a 12/1 shot alongside ex-Mansfield manager Paul Cox.

Current Wrexham caretaker boss Carl Darlington, former Reds ace Kevin Russell and ex-Cheltenham manager Mark Yates remain 16/1 shots to take the role.
