DRIVERS were warned to be wary of icy roads as temperatures dropped below freezing over the weekend.
Wrexham and the surrounding areas saw snowfall on Boxing Day and the weather continued to affect the region throughout the weekend, with icy weather conditions impacting on the county’s roads.
The Met Office issued a yellow ‘Be Aware’ weather warning following the drop in temperature during the early hours of Sunday, and the snow on Friday.
On Sunday, the weather saw Wrexham FC’s game against Forest Green Rovers postponed because of a frozen pitch.
Throughout the weekend, Wrexham Council gritters were out in force gritting the county’s roads in a bid to manage the icy roads.
Despite the poor conditions, they proved an ideal picture opportunity for NWN Media photographer Craig Colville, who captured these scenes of people enjoying the snow at the Horseshoe Pass in Llangollen.
