FIVE men have been found guilty of violently gatecrashing a houseparty in an incident that left scores of party-goers injured.

A jury at Shrewsbury Crown Court convicted Richard Spencer Rogers (19, of Bronwylfa Road, Welshpool), Sam Williams (20, of Gungrog Hill, Welshpool), Huw Jones (23, of Gungrog Hill, Welshpool), Huw Glyn Jones (19, of Orchard Green, Llanymynech) and Stafford Jones (20, of Llanidloes Road, Newtown) of violent disorder.

Rogers was also found guilty of dangerous driving and possession of a wooden axe handle.

The charges related to an attack on a house party at Harvest Moon, Maesbrook, near Oswestry, on December 14, 2012.

The court found that Rogers, Stafford Jones, WIlliams, Huw Jones and Huw Glyn Jones were part of a group of 10 people who drove to a party to take revenge for an earlier incident.

Five other defendants, Thomas Herbert (22, of Parc Caradog, Trewern), Joshua Parry (21, of Gungrog Road, Welshpool), Ashley Pedrini (19, of High Street, Welshpool), Frankie John Jones (19, of Halfway House), and Ryan Griffiths (23, of Croft Road, Welshpool), had already pleaded guilty to violent disorder at the party.

Rogers, Stafford Jones, Huw Jones and Huw Glyn Jones have all been bailed pending sentencing, which is expected to take place in October, alongside Williams - who is currently in custody - and the five who had previously pleaded guilty.
