THE trial of a group of men accused of terrifying partygoers in Maesbrook with threats of violence has begun. Richard Rogers, 19, of Bronwylfa Road in Welshpool, Huw-Glyn Jones, 19, of Orchard Green in Llanymynech, Stafford Jones, 20, of Llanidloes Road in Newtown, Sam Williams, 20, of Gungrog Road in Welshpool, and Huw Jones, 23, also of Gungrog Road are jointly charged with using or threatening unlawful violence causing fear for personal safety following an allegation that they gate crashed a house party in the village on December 14, 2012. Richard Rogers also faces charges of dangerous driving and possessing an offensive weapon, namely an axe handle. The trial, which commenced yesterday (Monday) at Shrewsbury Crown Court. is expected to last a week.
