The man who launched frozen food giant Iceland in Oswestry has received his knighthood.
Sir Malcolm Walker, 72, who was named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to retail, received the honour from the Duke of Cambridge at a ceremony in Buckingham Palace on Friday.
He said: “I am hugely honoured, and delighted to be enjoying a wonderful family day out - marred only by the fact that Lady Walker is too unwell to join us.”
He launched the business in Leg Street while he was still an employee of Woolworths.
