OSWESTRY town centre was a hive of activity as the 11th annual Food and Drink Festival took place.

The two-day extravaganza saw thousands of people embark on the town to sample the sights, smells and tastes of local and producers from further afield and their wide range of food and drink.

John Waine, festival director, said this year’s event was the best it’s ever been.

“I’m absolutely blown away by the response we had over the weekend.

“The weather gods smiled on us and the crowds enjoyed warm and dry weather which was great.

“It’s heartwarming to see over a thousand visitors coming to the festival – it attracts new people to the area and there were also a lot of young families this year. It was great to see so many children enjoying the space and, of course, the food.”

The street feast had around 60 stalls offering produce from all four corners of the world – yet most stallholders came from within a 40-mile radius of Oswestry.

“I’d like to thank the volunteers, the town council, the shops and all the musicians like Os Rocks choir who joined in the celebrations,” continued John.

“The festival showcased Oswestry when it was looking its best – hopefully it will encourage more people to come back and visit in the future.”
