THE body of a well known lady from Llanymynech was recovered from the canal in Barley Meadows, Llanymynech, on March 9.

Brenda Heminsley, aged 94, of Llanymynech, used to run the Post Office in Pant with her late husband, Jim.
 Dilys Gaskell, chair of the Llanymynech and Pant Parish Council, paid tribute to Brenda.
 She said: “I knew Brenda and her husband Jim. They used to run the Post Office in Pant. They did that for quite a long time.
 “They were a lovely and friendly couple and it is very sad to hear that Brenda has gone.
 “They did a lot for the community when they ran the Post Office. I remember she was a lovely and bubbly lady and always such a helpful person.
 “The Post Office was a centre of communication for the community and both Brenda and Jim were very well known.
 “On behalf of Llanymynech and Pant Parish Council, I would like to pass on our thoughts and sympathies to the family at this sad time.”
 Shortly before 6.30am on Thursday, March 9, West Mercia Police received a report that a body had been seen.
 Emergency services attended the scene and recovered the body, police notified the next of kin.
 Police have confirmed they are satisfied there was no third party involvement in the death and are treating the incident as unexplained.
 Officers are preparing a report for the coroner and an inquest was scheduled to open on Thursday, March 16, in Shirehall at 9.30am.
 Arthur Walpol, councillor for Pant and Llanymynech, also passed on his sympathies to the family.
 He said: “It is a very unfortunate turn of events. The area is not recognised as being dangerous.
 “My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.”
