A PICTURE of a giant sturgeon caught in Canada by an Oswestry businessman has proved a hit on the Facebook page of the company who ran the holiday.

Peter Starbuck landed the 350lbs fish in the Fraser River in British Columbia, Canada, and the organiser of the trip, Steve Kaye, also known as the Sturgeon Hunter,  was so impressed by Peter’s effort that he loaded a picture on to his company’s Facebook page with the caption: “78 years young with 350lbs of Sturgeon...never to old to live life!”

The entry can be found at

It has already had nearly 100 ‘Likes’.

“It was a marvellous experience,” said Peter, “And this time I can tell the story of the one that didn’t get away!”
