A HEDGEROW on a busy road near Oswestry is endangering lives, according to one local councillor.
Cllr Robin Hitch said it was “an accident waiting to happen” as people with pushchairs, prams and wheelchairs have to navigate the narrowed pathway on the A483 between Bronwylfa and Llanymynech due to the size of the hedge.
He is now calling on the Highways Agency to take action.
Cllr Hitch said: “It is very dangerous.
“The vegetation has overgrown in places and you can barely get through - in some places it is less than two foot wide.
“You could be hit on the back of the head by a wingmirror of a lorry that can’t see you, or anything.”
Cllr Hitch, who owns Fix Auto in Llanymynech, also said that the parish council has been complaining about the issue for years, adding: “Nothing ever gets done; it is just a matter of time before there is a fatal accident there.
“The whole parish council so frustrated, especially as we have been calling for a bypass for years.”
A spokesperson for the Highways Agency said: “We visited the site this week, and are treating this as a matter of high priority. We will work with our contractor to clear the undergrowth as soon as possible.”
