A SPECIAL event will give walkers a chance to stretch their legs on the picturesque Oswestry hills.

The walk arranged by and in aid of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust’s Oswestry branch for Saturday, September 7 will offer a choice of three-mile guided tour, or seven or 14 mile-signposted routes, all taking the wildlife-rich country between the Trust’s seven nature reserves in the area.

Delicious homemade cakes and tea are included in the entry fee.

A spokesperson for WT said: “Follow public rights of way across rolling farmland between woods, fen, fields and common land, enjoying spectacular views and scenery, the route also offers hundreds of different kinds of flowers to view, as well as a marvellous diversity of butterflies, moths and dragonflies.”

Walkers need to book in at Trefonen Village between 8am and 10am for the 14-mile route, between 8am and 11am for a choice of seven-mile walks (minibus will transport those walking the seven-mile route back to the start) and before 9am if you wish to walk with the guide on the three-mile route.

A lunch, plenty of fluids and appropriate clothing and footwear is essential. Dogs are welcome but should be kept on a lead.

Entrance fees are, longer walks: £8 if booked and paid in advance, £10 on the day, three-mile walk: £4 in advance, or £5 on the day for the 3 mile walk.
