IT’S a tale of two castles as a national charity launches its 2014 sponsored walk.

Members of the Oswestry branch of Cancer Research UK will be leading a team of fundraisers from Chirk Castle to Oswestry Castle when the sponsored event takes place on Sunday, October 5.

The nine-mile route will follow much of Offa’s Dyke Path and will see walkers travelling through fields, tracks, lanes and some roads before they reach their final destination.

Organiser Annie Kerr said she was grateful to the National Trust for their support, adding: “This walk is a bit more challenging than the circular route used in past sponsored walks I have organised. The walk is quite steep in parts but the views are amazing and walkers will certainly earn their sponsorship.

“I would really love to have 100 walkers, all dressed in pink, and if people are unable to walk but want to help, we need marshalls as well.”

She added that well behaved dogs on leads are welcome but the route is unsuitable for buggies and wheelchairs.

Registration costs £10 adults and £5 under 18s, but there is no registration on the day.

Forms and further information will be available from Annie at the end of July by calling 01691 659794 or emailing chirktoos@sky.com
