AN ANTI-KNIFE campaign received a boost when a high profile police inspector joined in.

Detective Chief Inspector Ed Foster from West Midlands Police visited the British Ironwork Centre at Aston, near Oswestry, to provide advice and direction for their Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife, initiative.

It comes as the British Ironwork Centre prepares to launch the campaign and visit Birmingham where they will meet with young gang members to persuade them to relinquish their weapons.

DCI Foster said he felt it was “a fantastic, community-led initiative which was both creative and inspiring.”

Clive Knowles, chairman of the BIC, said: “We are extremely grateful to DCI Foster for taking the time to visit us and to provide us with specialist insight into the factors that we must take into consideration when visiting these communities.”
