Silverware at stake for Llanfyllin's best gardener

GREEN-FINGERED gardeners who live within a 10-mile radius of Llanfyllin are being encouraged to compete for a coveted cup.

The G. O. Richards Perpetual Cup is awarded for the best exhibit in the garden section at Llanfyllin Show, which takes place on Saturday, August 9, and the closing date for entries is Monday, July 21.

Classes include the best low maintenance garden, best container or hanging basket display, best kept flower garden, best vegetable or allotment garden, best senior citizen’s garden and best wildlife garden.

Prizes will be given to the top three in each class and entry costs just 30p.

The classes are open to householders and allotment holders within a radius of 10 miles of the town who do not employ a regular or part-time gardener.

Entrants will be telephoned to arrange the date and time of judging.
