Fire service public budget meeting in Oswestry tonight

A PUBLIC meeting to discuss multi-million savings face by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service will take place in Oswestry tonight (Tuesday).

The meeting at the town's fire station on Mount Road will begin at 6.30pm and will hear from assistant chief officer Andy Johnson who will explain the reasoning behind some of the current proposals which include the potential move of the Shrewsbury-based control room.

The service is currently seeking to save a further £900,000 on top of the £3.2 million saved since 2010.
