Biker trapped after collision with lorry

A MOTORCYCLIST became trapped in a serious collision near Ellesmere.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash which happened on the A495 at Newton at about 2.40pm on Thursday, June 12.
A black Yamaha motorbike being ridden from the Ellesmere direction towards Whitchurch was in collision with a red and green Scania artic travelling in the opposite direction. The rider, who suffered serious injuries, was airlifted to North Staffordshire Hospital where he was described as being “critical but stable”.
Firefighters were also called and an ambulance, rapid response vehicle, and a paramedic area support officer attended.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “On arrival at the scene ambulance crews found the motorcyclist trapped underneath his bike
.
“The man was freed and treated for severe leg injuries.
“The motorcyclist, who was also suspected to have sustained internal injuries, was fully immobilised at the scene.
“Due to the serious nature of his injuries the man was given advanced pain relief before being airlifted to the major trauma centre at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire for further assessment and specialist treatment.”
PC Lee Barton of West Mercia Police added: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision itself or saw either the motorcycle or the lorry in the moments before it happened.”
