UPDATE: One person dead following Oswestry collision

 ONE man has died following an incident involving a lorry in Oswestry town centre this morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed a man has died following the incident on English Walls between Argos and the Memorial Hall shortly before 7am.

The road was sealed off while police investigate.

A WMAS spokesperson said: "Crews were alerted to a single vehicle incident in Smithfield Road. 

“Despite the efforts of medics, it became apparent to crews that nothing could be done to save a man who was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Initial reports stated the incident had been a two-lorry collision with Oswestry fire crews, police and a rapid response and vehicle and two ambulances in attendance.

 

 

West Midlands Ambulance Service can confirm that a 999 call was received following a road traffic incident in Smithfield Road, Oswestry this morning.

 

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the incident at just before 7am.

 

Two ambulances and a paramedic officer in a rapid response car attended the scene.

 

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews were alerted to a single vehicle incident in Smithfield Road. 

 

“Despite the efforts of medics, it became apparent to crews that nothing could be done to save a man who was confirmed dead at the scene.”
