OSWESTRY will transform into a winter wonderland this weekend as the festive season gathers momentum.
Oswestry’s Christmas Music Live event kicks proceedings off on Friday, December 6.
The event, which has grown into one of the largest Christmas celebrations in Shropshire, includes an assortment of entertainment including enormous fairground rides positioned throughout the town centre.
The Porthywaen Silver Band will be playing choirs and music groups and street entertainers will be strolling around the town and performing throughout the evening.
The ice rink will return to Festival Square, open to the public after 7pm, and live music will be performed from 6.30pm.
The indoor market will be open for late night bargains and will house Santa’s Grotto with the celebrations being brought to a close with a massive fireworks display at Cae Glas Park at 9pm.
The fun begins again on Saturday with the much-loved Christmas Parade, organised by Borderland Rotary Club which sets off from the Smithfield at 10am.
For those not too exhausted after all that fun, on Sunday there is also the Oswestry Festive Fun Run in aid of Hope House – a one mile run around the grounds of Lion Quays Waterside Resort starting at 11am from the country club.
