AN ONGOING leadership saga for one Welsh borders tourism group took another twist last week.
Members of the Chirk and Ceiriog Valley Partnership were informed that nobody has come forward to take over at the helm of the organisation, which aims to promote both regions and their tourism economy.
It means a meeting planned for last Tuesday, September 17, had to be cancelled.
The positions of chairman, vice chairman and publicity officer are currently empty following a series of oustings and resignations that saw the partnership have three different chairmen in the space of three months.
The latest blow came when Christine Ashford from Chirk was demoted after taking over the role, later deciding to step down from her roles as vice chairman and publicity officer.
A special general meeting had been due to take place in October to bring order to the group.
But in a letter to partnership members, secretary Carol Pick said: “I will organise a special general meeting to discuss the future of the Partnership and will inform you of the time, date and place. In the meantime please disregard any future meeting dates.”
Previously members have hit out at the lack of organisation within the CCVP and its direction.
