A5 death crash witnesses sought
WITNESSES are being sought over a crash in which a man died during the August Bank Holiday weekend.
A 60-year-old man died when the box van he was driving left the A5 and went down an embankment near Oswestry during the early hours of Saturday, August 24.
No other vehicle was involved in the incident, which happened at around 4.45am.
The box van was travelling from the direction of Mile End roundabout towards Shrewsbury when it left the road, going down an embankment and stopping in a copse of trees.
A police spokesperson said: “Shropshire coroner Mr John Ellery has been informed and the inquest will be opened in due course.
“Investigations are continuing into the events leading up to the tragedy and anyone who saw the incident, or the vehicle involved shortly beforehand, is asked to contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101."
The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
