KINDHEARTED fundraisers are taking part in a mass sleepover.
More than 80 women kitted out with an overnight bag will be the first through the doors of a new £6.9 million care home due to open in Oswestry in April.
New Fairholme is hosting Ladies Night In, a giant sleepover and pamper party, and supporters of Age UK are invited to enjoy supper, bed and breakfast at the Coverage Care home.
The Age UK North Shropshire Supporters event is being held on April 5, a few days before the Shrewsbury Road care home, which will provide 88 large en-suite bedrooms, welcomes its new residents.
Event organiser, Sue Dewhirst, said: “We think this is probably the biggest sleepover Shropshire has seen and promises to be a night of gastronomy, gossip and a little bit of pampering thrown in too – the new home even has its own salon.
“Coverage Care has always been very supportive of our fundraising and we’re thrilled we will be the first people to try out the amazing facilities at New Fairholme.
“We’ve put this evening together with the generous support of Coverage Care and all the funds raised go to supporting Age UK’s core services in North Shropshire,” she added.
And Coverage Care chief executive, David Coull, said he was looking forward to the grand opening of the new home.
“However, before then New Fairholme will host supporters of Age UK NSS and we’re delighted to be supporting their fundraising in such an innovative way,” he said.
“I’m not sure there has even been a giant sleepover like this in a care home before in Shropshire.
“Invited guests will be using our on-site hair salon and dining rooms, and, of course, our en-suite rooms.
“I will be joining them for a little supper earlier on but then will be making my excuses,” he added.
Check-in for Ladies Night In is from 6.30pm on April 5 and the £25 tickets are selling fast.
