A LLANDUDNO businessman is blaming lack of trade for his decision to fade out a music store.
Instrument and accessories store March Hare Music, on Vaughan Street, is closing its doors after six years of trading amid gloomy predictions for the economy.
Manager-director Gareth Hughes feared the business would not be able to survive another slump in sales.
“We’ve got through the last recession, and they’re now telling of another dip in the summer,” said the independent store owner.
“There’s no way that if that happened we would be able to survive it. I’m making a speculative decision.”
He added it was a “sad thing” to lose the business, as there had been a music store in Llandudno for the past 100 years.
Mr Hughes bought the Llandudno Music store in 2005 and changed the business to March Hare Music, before moving to a larger venue further along the road in 2008.
Before these changes, Wagstaff’s in Vaughan Street was a regular stopping off point for musicians.
