Oswestry Eagles Seconds 31, Winnington Park 14
A FINE individual display from Louis McKenzie helped Oswestry to a comfortable 31-14 win over Winnington Park as they dominated for long periods.
Dan Williams opened the scoring as he danced through the visiting defence and Jake Northwood made one of several rampaging runs in the game to set up an opportunity for Craig Howell which he eagerly took in the corner.
Veteran centre Ian Davies showed a good pair of hands to allow Luke Parkes to score another well taken try for Oswestry, and with McKenzie kicking the points they went into a commanding lead.
But they relaxed enough to concede a penalty close to their own line which Winnington took full advantage of to register seven points of their own.
The Eagles tried hard to atone for the mistake before the interval, but some fresh legs in the second half allowed No.8 Wilford to offload to youngster Tom Bowker for a try.
This led to an error-strewn 20 minutes however as neither side managed to find any continuity, but it was Winnington who finally put an end to the poor spell when good ball from the line-out was swung out to the wing who touched down for a converted try.
McKenzie curtailed any Winnington thoughts of a late comeback however, converting after he had rounded the Park winger to score a decisive try in the dying moments ahead of next week's trip to Wilmslow for a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash.
