AN OSWESTRY Eagles side bidding to win their fourth consecutive match came undone against Douglas in a high-scoring Park Hall clash on Saturday.

The Eagles did manage to run in four tries however with two from centre, Rob Massam, helping to secure a valuable bonus point as they clung onto fifth place in division two of the South Lancs and Cheshire League with a game in hand.

The Isle of Man side took the lead after only two minutes when they carved a hole in the Oswestry defence to cross the line and convert.

They found themselves further behind 10 minutes later when they allowed Douglas through for a second try before gaining a foothold in the game when Nick Carlton capitalised on a sustained spell of forward dominance to send Tyler Morris through the gap to put the Eagles on the scoreboard with Andy Howell converting.

Douglas added three further tries before the break to extend their lead to 22 points, but scores from Massam and Nick Carlton followed in quick succession to haul Oswestry back into the game at 24-29 as half-time blew.

Oswestry kept the ball tight for the first 20 minutes in a bid to overtake the visitors but Douglas weathered the storm before blitzing the Eagles with three tries in 15 minutes to make the game safe.

Massam ran in his second try of the day late on to give the score more respectability at the end, but they will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to the league's bottom side, Ellesmere Port on Saturday.
