South Lancs/Cheshire League Division Two
Oswestry Eagles 59, Sefton 0

OSWESTRY romped to a huge win over visiting Sefton with a Rob Mason hat-trick paving the way for a hugely one-sided victory.

Eagles coach Don Howell hailed his sides best performance in two years as they left their calling card all over the Sefton try line with Sam Wright also touching down twice and the boot of Andy Howell ensuring their would never be any way back into the game for a Sefton side devoid of answers.

Wright put his name on the scoreboard just five minutes into proceedings, and Oswestry continued to dominate with Mason running in his three tries before the break.

Thomas Thorpe also crossed the line and with Howell slotting over all four conversions the Eagles took a commanding 33 point lead into half-time.

Sefton began the second half in better fashion as they broke Oswestry’s momentum by spoiling the play, but the Eagles regained their composure as the half wore on with Wright adding his second score before Ivor Hughes and Jim Dilks both added to the try count before youngster, Nathan Parker, added his first try in Oswestry colours to the tally.

Howell kicked three of the four second-half conversions as well as a penalty to put Oswestry out of sight, and with good discipline in the pack, Sefton were unable to register a score on a sorry afternoon for the visitors.

The Eagles now sit fifth in the second division of the South Lancs and Cheshire League with a game in hand over the teams above them after their match with the Isle of Man Vagabonds was called off after delays at Liverpool Airport.

Oswestry’s next match is against Douglas at Park Hall this Saturday with a 3pm kick-off.
