THE Oswestry Eagles will entertain Welshpool this Thursday evening as they prepare for the new rugby season which gets underway next month.
The Eagles are bidding to put a disappointing campaign behind them after suffering relegation from the South Lancs and Cheshire Division One last time around, but having retained the services of coach Scott Sturdy, they will hope to hit the ground running by registering an early pre-season win over the visitors.
Sturdy watched his side put in a series of impressive performances as they ran a number of the better sides close towards the end of the last term after he found himself selecting teams from a squad ravaged with injuries from the outset.
Training began in earnest at the club's Park Hall training facilities last month, and the match will give rugby fans an early indicator of the Eagle's chances of an immediate return to Division One.
But with the opportunity to put training ground techniques into action on the pitch the priority, fans attending the game against Welshpool should be set to enjoy some entertaining rugby on what should be an enjoyable evening at the club.
The Eagles hope that as many people as possible will turn out to support them again this year, and all will be made to feel welcome at the game which kicks off at 6.45pm.
