You’ll flock to The Rock at Lloc

The Rock Inn at Lloc has a long tradition for good food, and situated where it is a couple of minutes drive from the Caerwys junction of the A55, it’s a reputation that has spread far and wide.

We rocked up at The Rock on a Sunday lunchtime and left an hour or so later, having enjoyed a three course meal for under £12 each.

We could have chosen the two course option at £9.95 or a main only at £7.45, but on behalf of the readership of Weekend Xtra we were more than willing to go that extra yard.

Practising restraint I ordered pate and warm toast to start, while my more adventurous companion went for black pudding and bacon stack with a creamy pepper sauce.

Roast lamb starred as my main while chicken chasseur arrived across our table for two. Both dishes were well cooked and presented and arrived with a steaming selection of fresh veg.

After a proper passing of time we dared to proceed into the delicious realm of puddings.

The dessert menu promised much, with old favourites like sticky toffee pudding, warm cherry bakewell and a trio of ice creams jostling in the ‘choose-me’ stakes with some very impressive newcomers.

Lemon and elderflower ice cream meringue cake, chocolate and marshmallow pie and strawberry crush cake sounded almost poetic, unsung arias waiting to be heard. After much deliberation I plumped (literally I fear) for the strawberry confection and my fellow diner chose the chocolate and marshmallow route.

Both creations were bought in, I suspect, but who cares, they were absolutely delicious.

The Rock at Lloc is a name that is easy to remember and the food hard to forget. Good value for money and well worth a visit.

The Rock at Lloc specialises in quality, locally sourced food served noon-9pm, with ongoing offers such as two meals for £10 (noon-6pm, Monday-Saturday) and special Board meals available at weekends.
