If you have never been to a performance by Oswestry Ladies Choir, then the forthcoming concert on April 21 may be a good way to start.

The title says it all – “What a Wonderful World” – as the choir embarks on a musical journey around the world.

Hazel Davis, chairman of Oswestry Ladies Choir said: "When you consider how fleeting popular music can be it is amazing that this selection of music has enjoyed decades of popularity."

Hear the choir singing enthusiastically in Swedish, Japanese, Spanish, French, Swahili, English and of course Welsh.

This appealing music is easy to listen to as each song has its own charm and beauty and includes Sakura, El Vito, Sous le Ciel de Paris, La Cumparsita (an Argentinian Tango), Moscow Nights and many more, concluding with the ever popular Welsh favourite Hafan Gobaith.

Joining the choir for this whirlwind musical tour is Katherine Macdonald a young singer from Ellesmere, who is a soloist and director with Oswestry Musical Theatre. Katherine is a popular soloist throughout Shropshire and is guaranteed to delight the audience with her beautiful voice.

The concert, conducted by Dawn Jaffray, takes place on Saturday April 21 at the Marches School at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £10 for adults and free to children under the age of sixteen are available from choir members, Oswestry Herbarium, Albion Hill, Oswestry, on the door, or by telephone 01691 654802.
