Matt Lucas and Richard Ayoade join next season of Taskmaster

Matt Lucas and Richard Ayoade are the among latest comedians to compete on Taskmaster.

The pair will be joined on the upcoming 22nd season by Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie and Nina Conti.

Channel 4 teased that the comics have “willingly submitted themselves to the toughest physical and mental examination on television”.

It added: “Like so many before them, they all believe they can impress the Taskmaster, but only one can take home the glory.”

The group will be put through their paces by Greg Davies and his assistant Alex Horne who will “score and mark with the utmost scrutiny to determine who will emerge victorious” and eventually hold the trophy and be named a Taskmaster Champion.

Lucas is best known for his work with David Walliams on the BBC sketch comedy series Little Britain and Come Fly With Me. He has also appeared in Doctor Who, Paddington, Wonka and Gladiator II.

Ayoade played socially awkward IT technician Maurice Moss in Channel 4 sitcom The IT Crowd from 2006 until 2013.

Petts has supported Ed Gamble on tour and appeared on House Of Games, Have I Got News For You and Celebrity Mastermind.

Suttie played Dobby in Peep Show while Conti was the director of comedy feature Sunlight.

The most recent season of Taskmaster featured Amy Gledhill, Armando Iannucci, Joanna Page, Joel Dommett and Kumail Nanjiani.
