A warning has been made after suspected horse rustlers were spotted just outside Oswestry.
The West Mercia Police Horse Watch group is calling on people to be aware after a resident in the Treflech area reported suspicious activity at their property over several nights last week.
Torchlights were seen in the stable area on both occasions and one horse had a hand plait put in its mane – which can be a signal between equine thieves – and police have confirmed it was not a wind knot.
A suspicious vehicle has also been sighted at the property on two occasions, described as a silver or white Mitsubishi pick-up with a registration number of DS07 LKN.
The number plate is registered to a black vehicle with no current keeper. The driver was described as ‘oldish, fat and wearing braces’.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 346s 030717.
