Tributes have been paid to an Ellesmere firefighter who died earlier this month from pancreatic cancer.
Jason Nash lived in the town for 26 years, spending 16 years working for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service as a retained firefighter, where he progressed to crew manager.
His wife of 16 years, Jayne, said the 44-year-old always went above and beyond the call of duty for a job he loved.
She said he also had a great sense of humour, which led to his nickname ‘Johnny 5’.
Mrs Nash continued: “He was a top man, a brilliant husband.
“He would party all the time. He was a character and he was amazing. Everybody loved him and was everybody’s friend.”
Mr Nash, who also worked at Lloyds Animal Feeds in Llynclys, leaves his wife and two daughters, Louise and Chelsea.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday at 9.15am at Shrewsbury Crematorium when people are asked to wear bright colours or football shirts.
