The Marches Sixth Form in Oswestry will be opening its doors to prospective students on Saturday, February 11 offering them the opportunity to experience life as a sixth-form student.

Since the Sixth Form opened in 2013 it has gone from strength to strength and now accommodates just under 160 students in a modern, purpose-built centre.

When the admissions process for 2017 launched, exciting news was announced about the courses on offer at Oswestry’s main A-Level provider, meaning students applying to the Sixth Form from September 2017 can choose from the 25
A-Levels on offer and, new for 2017, the Sixth Form will be adding BTECs at Level 3 to their course offer.

On the morning, parents will be welcomed by the executive headteacher, Sarah Longville, and will receive a talk from the head of sixth form, Claire Buckle, about the curriculum on offer, academic and pastoral care approaches and post-16 reform while students take part in taster lessons by subject specialist teachers.

Ms Buckle commented: “We are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for prospective students to see what it is like to study at The Marches Sixth Form.”

The Marches Sixth Form will be adding new courses to their A-Level offering for 2017, including Economics, Film Studies and English Language.

The BTECs will be equivalent to one
A-Level and include Applied Science, Engineering, Business Studies, ICT, Creative and Digital Media, Sport and Performing Arts.

The Marches Sixth Form will allow students the unique opportunity to mix both A-Level and BTEC courses.

The taster morning will begin with registration at 9.45am. Tasters and talks will start at 10am.

The two taster sessions will last for 40 minutes and it is anticipated the event will finishing about 11.30am. To register, students must visit the school website http://marchesschool.co.uk/taster-morning-marches-sixth-form-register-interest
