Fire engine on display at Merefest had to leave event to tackle car blaze

A FIRE engine was on display at Merefest festival on Saturday had to leave the event – to deal with an emergency call.

The appliance was part of the show at Cremore Gardens, Ellesmere when it made the sudden departure.

A car was on fire at Sparbridge car park in Cross Street, Ellesmere. Firefighters put out the blaze but the car, a blue Fiat Punto, was extensively damaged.
